From adolescence to the childbearing years, to older age and menopause, there are many conditions that uniquely affect the female body throughout the lifespan. As such, Women’s Health Physiotherapy is centred on the treatment and management of these conditions with a particular focus on pelvic health.

Physiotherapists with a special interest in Women’s Heath manage a broad range of conditions, including:

  • Urinary leakage with sport, exercise, coughing, sneezing and laughing
  • Sudden and strong urges to go to the toilet
  • Pelvic organ prolapse – a sense of heaviness or dragging in the vaginal region
  • Pelvic pain
  • Coccyx pain
  • Constipation
  • Core and Postural stability
  • Low back pain
  • Pre and Post-natal care, including: diabetes, associated musculoskeletal conditions and safe exercise
Information for Clients

A referral is not required to see a Physiotherapist with a special interest in Women’s Health. If you have been suffering from symptoms within the pelvic region or associated with pregnancy you can book an initial consult online or over the phone. If calling, please inform the receptionist your issue is related to Women’s Health, or if booking online, please write a brief comment on your main issue.

Your first appointment

As part of a comprehensive pelvic assessment, your Physiotherapist may suggest a Real-time Ultrasound assessment or internal vaginal examination. This depends on what your Physiotherapist suspects is the cause of your symptoms.

Initial consult may take between 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Please bring:

  • Comfortable, loose fitting clothing
  • Your Health Care card (if you have one)
  • Referral letter from Doctor or Mid-wife (if you have one)
